Mindrippers are ugly creatures, humanoid shaped but with a rubbery greenish
mauve skin glistening with slime, a head resembling a four-tentacled octopus,
and bloated white eyes. In some worlds they have been called mind flayers or
illithids, but these names mean little to the creatures themselves. Their
minds are too strange for anyone else to understand, but their terrible power
over the thoughts and will of others is legendary. One of the creations of
Waren, the god of elementals and magic, the mindrippers are so different from
almost any other race that many scholars believe they have been warped by the
powers of chaos. They are usually seen as evil creatures as they feed on the
minds of other creatures, but they rarely concern themselves with such trivial
moral implications as good or evil.
