A sign of a truly powerful spellcaster is his knowledge of runic writing
that can be attained at the Runematers guild. Such caster will be able
to leave a lasting mark on his friend, benefiting him with the powerful
magics runes contain. They can bind the wounds of their friends and stun
their enemies with the power of runes. They can even enhance the
properties of weapons and armours.

If you are new to the realms of SumuMUD, you might want to delay
learning the secrets of runes. Right now is a good time to learn the
basics of combat and spellcasting. You should still take your time to
read this and understand the ways of runemasters, as they will grant you
their help more then once, before you can make powerful runes of your
own.

The two runes you will encounter most often are the rune of life, which
increases your maximum amount of hit points, and a rune of magic, which
increases your spell point regeneration rate. More powerful runemasters
can even grant you the benefit of both runes.

That's all nice, but where do you get those ? Watch out on public
channels. Sometimes a friendly runemaster will announce on mud that he
is dispencing free runes. Don't miss an opportunity to take such offer.
More often, however, you will see runemasters selling their services on
sales channel. In such cases your own bank account is the best advisor.
You can also try to ask for a rune on wanted channel and see if anybody
offers you one, most likely it will come with a price tag. Do not use
'tell' to ask for a rune, unless you know that the person you are asking
is selling runes on regular basis, and you are ready to pay the price.
