The adjectives used in the identify spell and appraise skill are (from
smallest to largest):

  It increases/decreases <stat/resist/skill/spell/regen>
    an unsubstantial amount
    a tiny amount
    slightly
    less than average amount
    an average amount
    more than average amount
    a noticeable amount
    remarkably
    an extraordinary amount
    an insane amount
    a legendary amount
    an epic amount
    so much that TuneKirves(tm) is above you

These adjectives show an approximation of the stat relative to the maximum
amount of stat in the slot(s) the item occupies. Insane amount means that the
bonus/penalty is at or close to the normal maximum for that slot. Legendary
and epic amounts are already outside the normal limits and TuneKirves means
that the bonus/penalty provided by the item is far outside the normal limits
for that slot.

You may also see a message saying 'It does not modify <stat> at all.'
This should be self-explanatory.
